Bouldering is a free form of climbing that is performed on small rock formations or artificial rock with minimal use of equipment such as climbing shoes to help secure footholds, chalk to keep their hands dry and to provide a firmer grip, and bouldering mats to prevent injuries from falls. The challenge is to climb short but challenging bouldering routes or sequences of moves) using balance, technique, strength, and problem-solving abilities.
